Death To The Pixie: How To Handle Growing Out Your Short Hair Painlessly

"A woman who cuts her hair is about to change her life - Coco"

I've always loved this quote. Of course it had to be coco chanel, icon hello! But it does ring true, when you change your hair, you're about to embark on a journey. Whether it's adjusting to a new hairstyle or really changing her life. A woman's hair represents her personality it's like her crown and whenever she dawns a new one she becomes a new queen.

I've always played with the idea of growing out my hair, the main problem is I can't stop fussing with it. If you've ever had a short cut, especially a cropped do' you know what I'm talking about. I hate the look of it when its growing out, it just looks so bad. Yeah I know there are styles but most of them are when you're hair is already ear length, but I cut my hair before then.

But since I am about to change my life, I thought I should do what I said and grow it out! It won't be super long but I missed my bob. I had one way back when in 2010 it was so cute, but of course I cut it off. That's the length I'm going for, I should have it in about 6 months hopefully. Until then this is how I cope with growing my hair out and if you're thinking about growing yours out hopefully this will help.

My first tip will always be fake hair. Why? Because while you're wearing the fake hair you're not messing with your own. It protects your hair from any and all styling damage and it (seems) to make your hair grow faster. But it's only because you're not messing with it. I did this last year and my hair got so long and better yet it was healthy no split ends, I didn't need a trim, nothing.

Second tip, style it. You can always mold your hair down with a little styling product, That way you still have your style. My only issue with this is after your hair grows out or starts growing it gets more and more difficult to achieve your desired look.

Lastly, the fuck it routine. At the end of the day it'll only be an awkward cut for about 3 months, and it goes by faster than you think. So if you can not touch it at all for 3 months great.

The main thing when growing out your hair especially if you want it too be quick and painless is to avoid any unnecessary stress to the hair. So no heat, no dyes, and if at all possible no relaxers or perms. It'll weaken the hair and cause it to break easier. That's why I highly suggest getting a weave, sew ins, or a wig. You don't have to do squat to your hair but keep it moisturized and wash it.

Good luck :)
