I have been debating on trying out a cleansing sponge for a while. Ever since I heard about them in early March, I thought the whole idea was backwards. Sponges hold bacteria, and absorb, so wouldn't a cleansing sponge increase breakouts and have me using twice as much cleanser? I didn't want to try it, I had my facial brush, that's all I needed. However, today while I was out shopping I spotted a deal I couldn't resist. A cleanser, my favorite beauty oil and a cleansing sponge all in a set for 48 (mind you the oil is 48 on its own). Although I wasn't too keen on getting the sponge I figured now is my chance to see if it's as amazing as it claims.
The Konjac sponge by Boscia claims to;
smoothes, soften, and deeply hydrate the skin.
It also gently exfoliates the skin
The red clay goes into your pores and gets all the junk out.
That's a lot to live up too. When I got home and removed it from the box the sponge was hard as a rock. You could literally knock on it and it wouldn't make a dent. Why and how? I read the box to see if there was any cleanser already in the sponge. No there wasn't, so why was it hard? I figured it was to keep it from getting dirty. It was very porous so air can get in there and the bacteria won't grow.
After I wet the Sponge as instructed it did turn pillowy soft like softer than any sponge I ever felt. I thought it would be sudsy because of the red clay but it wasn't. I added two pumps of my cleanser which usually has a little foam but it still didn't foam up at all. Which I don't care for cause I love a good foam. As I began to wash my face I didn't feel much exfoliating, it just felt like a Sponge rubbing my face. I flipped it over to the flatter slide and it was a little rougher but still didn't feel like it was exfoliating much. I did like the fact that it was soft enough to go over my eyes with since I take off my make up in the shower. After rinsing my face did feel more hydrated, and a little softer but it didn't feel clean. Cleaning the sponge was easy, just rinse until it ran clear. I left it in my shower overnight to dry and it was only dry on one side. I wonder if it was because it was flat or if it doesn't dry. Makes me wonder how sanitary the sponge really is.
All in all I do think it's a good product. If you're looking for something to wash your face other than your hands it'll be perfect especially if you are more sensitive. However, if you're like me and you like a little more physical exfoliation (you like to feel it working) then you won't care for it much. My face didn't feel as clean as I wanted it to feel. I'll give it 5 kisses because it's a good buy but only if you want something gentle. I'll probably keep using it too remove my eye makeup though
.
Have you ever tried the Konjac Cleansing Sponge? If so what are your thoughts?
Where did you purchase your set from?
