Over the last few months contouring has been on the lips and tongues of every beauty guru out there. Sephora even declared 2015 the year of the contour but is contouring possibly on its way out? (Sorry Kim Kardashian) Last season all down the runway we saw models do their sexy walk down the cat walk with cheeks chiseled to the heavens and brows full to hell, but this season there was hardly a contour in sight.
We were surprised to see such a sight. When contouring hit the scene it was all anyone could talk about. Articles flooded over ever beauty lover's and fashionista's time line with tips from contouring your eyes to your breast. Everyone from every age got in to the trend so much so that the "fake look" started looking all to real. People began to wonder what would be next after contouring ? What will be the next big thing? Well the next big thing is finally here!
Strobing is the art (yes make up is an art) that is a less extreme and time consuming way to bring out your best features without putting on a pound of make up, and yes ladies it is very easy to do. This beauty technique focuses more on the highlighting aspect of contouring and uses more illuminating products rather than bronzing or contouring.
As well fall further in to 2015 we see designers like Rebecca Minkoff, Jason Wu, even Creatures of the wind experimenting with strobing to give their ,odes more of a sun kissed look rather than a harsh contoured look. Strobing is all about letting the natural features of the skin shine through to give you a natural, sweet, and lightly bronzed look.
Even MAKE UP FOR EVER is jumping on the bandwagon! They took the hint from the runway's au natural dewy look and created their newest gel-powder bronzer, Pro Bronze Fusion, to mimic the looks on the runway. The bronzer is not very pigmented, but that's the point .it's not meant to give you a full on bronzed look. Pro Bronze Fusion is meant to give you a radiant glow to the face that looks like you're glowing from within and spent a day at the beach rather than sunken cheeks.
The best part about strobing is the fact that, unlike contouring it takes seconds to do! Also, it's very easy it takes less than 30 minutes to do and you don't have to analyze your face shape to do it. To Strobe the right way, you'll dust some highlighting powder or cream on any areas where the light naturally hits your face like your cheekbones, down your nose, brow bone, center of the face and your chin.
Simple, easy, and my face won't melt off mid day? What's not to love? What do you guys think? Will you rock the strobe or stick to the contour?
